Indoor filters, the outdoor unit, and why a refrigerant leak at a line-set fitting is never a DIY fix.

Ductless mini-split problems
A mini-split removes ductwork from the list of things that can go wrong. But it keeps almost everything else a central air conditioner has: filters, a refrigerant circuit, and an outdoor unit doing real work.
No ducts, but the same core parts
Ductless systems are common as additions to a house, in rooms a central system does not reach well, or as the primary system in smaller homes. Because each indoor head serves one zone directly, a filter or airflow problem in a mini-split shows up faster and more obviously in that one room than the equivalent problem does in a ducted central system.
Mini-split guides
Wrong mode, a normal defrost cycle, a dirty filter or a cold-weather limit before any refrigerant fault.
