Who runs this site, what it is, and what it is not. Last updated 17 September 2026.

Who operates this site

  • Operator: Javier García
  • Address: Calle Cabriol, 46184 Valencia, Spain
  • Email: hello@heatandairguide.com
  • Website: heatandairguide.com

Heat & Air Guide is operated by an individual based in Spain and is written for readers in the United States. The operator is a publisher, not a contractor: this site does not carry out, arrange, broker or supervise HVAC installation, repair, servicing, refrigerant handling or ductwork of any kind, anywhere. And is not a licensed HVAC contractor, technician, or engineer.

What this site is

Heat & Air Guide publishes independent, general-interest explanations about heating and cooling in a US home: how furnaces, central air conditioners, heat pumps, ductless mini-splits and boilers tend to fail, what thermostats and ductwork problems look like, what a seasonal tune-up covers, and how the major system types compare.

What this site is not — please read this one

Nothing on this site explains how to purchase, handle. Or add refrigerant. In the United States, refrigerant is regulated under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, and only a technician holding EPA Section 608 certification may legally purchase or handle it. That work is never described here as something to do yourself.

Nothing on this site explains how to open, test. Or discharge an electrical capacitor. Run and start capacitors in HVAC equipment can hold a dangerous electrical charge even when the unit is fully unplugged. And that work is left to a licensed technician.

Nothing on this site provides instructions for gas line, gas valve. Or burner assembly work. Where a gas smell or a carbon monoxide alarm is mentioned, the only instruction given is to leave the property and contact the gas utility or emergency services — never to investigate or attempt a fix.

This site is not professional advice, and it is not a substitute for a licensed HVAC contractor, technician or engineer. It is general information written without knowledge of your specific equipment, your property, or your local code requirements.

In the United States, HVAC licensing, permitting and code requirements are set at the state and local level. Where we describe them we do so in general terms and point you at your own local building department or licensed contractor — we do not certify what is lawful or compliant for your specific jurisdiction.

This site publishes no medical content. It does not describe symptoms, diagnose conditions. Or offer any opinion on health outcomes, including those relating to carbon monoxide exposure or indoor air quality. If your concern is health rather than the equipment, that is a matter for a medical practitioner or the appropriate emergency service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator accepts no liability for loss, damage or injury arising from action taken. Or not taken, on the basis of material published on this site. You use the information here at your own risk and on your own judgement.

Prices and incentives

As a matter of editorial policy, this site does not publish prices, quotes, or the cost of equipment, installation, repair or maintenance. It also does not publish figures for federal or state tax credits, rebates or incentive programs, which change on their own schedule and vary by jurisdiction. They vary too much by region and by year for a number printed here to stay accurate, and a stale figure is worse than none. Where money is relevant we explain what drives it and send you to a current source — your installer, your utility, or your state energy office.

Affiliate links and independence

Some links to retailers may be affiliate links, meaning the operator may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no additional cost to you. Where that applies it is marked on the page. Affiliate arrangements do not influence what is recommended, and the operator has no commercial relationship with any HVAC contractor, manufacturer, brand or trade association.

Intellectual property

The text, structure, design and original graphics of this site belong to the operator unless stated otherwise. You are welcome to quote briefly with attribution and a link. Wholesale reproduction of pages is not permitted.

External links

This site links to external sources, including US federal agencies and standards bodies, so you can check what we say against the original. The operator does not control those sites and is not responsible for their content, their availability, or any changes made to them after we linked. A link is not an endorsement.

If you find that a source we cite no longer says what we report it as saying, please write to hello@heatandairguide.com and the page will be corrected.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, we want to know. Send the page and the correction to hello@heatandairguide.com, ideally with the source, and it will be fixed.
